Case study
Restaurant Wellenlänge: one house, one signature
A restaurant mural as a complete concept: for Restaurant Wellenlänge at the business boutique hotel Höll am Main in Rüsselsheim, graffiti artist Viacheslav “Slavik” Balabaiev (Farbaholix) designed and painted the facade on the Main riverbank, the chef’s table area and the dining room and redesigned the restaurant’s logo. He also painted the entrance portrait and refreshed the wings on the gate – all in one visual language.

The house on the Main
Höll am Main sits right on the riverbank in Rüsselsheim. The house was founded back in 1836 as the inn “Mainlust”; the Höll family renovated it thoroughly and opened it in early 2017 as a business boutique hotel with Restaurant Wellenlänge. The kitchen’s motto: “creative cuisine exactly on your wavelength” – regional produce combined with flavours from around the world.
The idea: the name becomes the image
“Wellenlänge” means wavelength – and the name supplied the motif. The long facade facing the Main became a single wave in turquoise, white and warm evening tones, with a white seagull flying through it. Below, the lettering “Restaurant Wellenlänge” runs along the whole front.

A restaurant mural from the entrance to the table
- Entrance: a large female portrait in pink and blue next to the stairs, with “Höll” on her collar. The idea came from Christian Höll, who runs the family business today, and his team; Slavik brought it to the wall.
- Chef’s table: violet baroque ornaments with the Wellenlänge logo, which Slavik also redesigned, and a glowing green ornament panel.
- Dining room: the ornaments continue and give the room depth in the evening.
- Gate: Slavik refreshed the pink-red wings with “Welcome to Höll am Main” – a photo spot for guests.
A portrait becomes a brand
The entrance portrait did not stay on the wall: the restaurant now uses it as the cover of its menu. That is the point of a complete concept – the art becomes part of the brand, from the facade to the menu on the table.
How the facade was made
The work was done on site: from scaffolding and ladders, wave by wave with spray paint.
A collaboration that keeps going
Wellenlänge was Slavik’s first commission after moving to Germany – the project that gave him experience and confidence for everything that followed. And it has never really ended: like every Farbaholix client, the Höll family regularly refreshes details of its hotel and restaurant complex, and the sketches for the next steps are already on the table.
The work has grown into a friendship between Christian Höll and Slavik that both value greatly – and they recommend each other to their clients.
